The Turkey Bowl was a great experience (well, except for the losing). It took place at the FAU University Center, as BRCC's tournaments usually do, except they used the big ballroom on the first floor instead of one of the smaller meeting rooms for the usual tournament. Much thanks to Jon Haskel for all his work getting the tournament put together.
Walking in on Friday was a different atmosphere than the usual Friday tournament...one of the stores was converted into a chess store, while I bought Fritz 10 and Ed Veluz's "favorite" chess board. (It's a red chess board to go with my red chess pieces--he requested that if we play that we not use that set since it would burn out his retina).
There were about 80-90 tables set up in the cavernous room, tons of players milling around, and tangible anticipation. And since it was Friday night, only the players who chose the 3-day option were there! (When I told a few people it's the biggest tournament I've been in, a few people told me that I need to go to a real big tournament someday).
On Sunday, the TD held a raffle for a Turkey Bowl T-shirt, and the just released Fritz 10. It's just as well I didn't win anything, since I'd already bought both of them on Friday.
